Evelyn Harris

October 11, 1937 — January 11, 2015

Evelyn (Patty) Harris of Smithfield, Virginia went home to be with the lord on Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Malachi, Sr. and Irene Jordan, her brothers Malachi, Jr. and Wilbert T Jordan, Sr. Patty accepted Christ at an early age and joined Friendship C.O.G.I.C. where she served in the choir and on the usher board. Patty joined Emmanuel Baptist Church Smithfield, Virginia after her marriage where she served as a Deaconess. Patty loved the Lord. She was dedicated to her family and was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was passionate about her hair, her clothes, her hats and her flowers. Patty leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband John A. Harris, her sons, Harry Darden (Sandra), Larry Darden (Eugonda), Gregory Darden (Della), Michall L. Darden, Troy L. Darden (Francis), John L. Harris, Sr.(Gail), and Sherman B. Harris. Three Daughters Pamela Copeland (Wayne), Linda Jones and Alice Jones, a sister Lillian Jordan, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Patty will be greatly missed. The celebration of Life Service will be conducted 1:00PM on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Smithfield, Virginia. Public viewing will be on Thursday from 4-7PM at Shivers Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. .
