Ethel Birchette Blount

October 5, 1939 — January 24, 2017

Ethel Blount was born on October 5, 1939 to the late Louis and Corine Birchette. Our beloved Ethel peacefully departed this life and entered into enternal rest on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at MCV Medical Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was employed at Colonial Williamsburg as a seamstress for 26 years. She graduated from L.P. Jackson High School. She was a member of Poplar Lawn Baptist Church for over 48 years. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Corine Birchette; sister, Lucy Debrick; brothers: Lewis and John Birchette and a son, Tyrone Blount. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 51 years, Lewis "Jackie" Blount; two sons: Leon Birchette (Linda) of Surry, Virginia and Darrell Blount (Yoni) of Suffolk, Virginia; a daughter, Sharon Butts (Robert) of Hopewell, Virginia;two sisters, Annie Diggs (Herbert) of Smithfield, Virginia and Georgia Ellis of Surry, Virginia. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Angela Blount of Surry, Virginia; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Her loving spirit, kindness and smiles will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life service will be held on 12:00 PM Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Poplar Lawn Baptist Church, Surry, Va. Viewing will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 4-7PM at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Old Brick Church cemetery, Surry, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.

Burial Date January 31, 2017

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, 12:00 PM at Poplar Lawn Baptist Church, Surry, Va. Viewing will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 4-7PM at the chapel. Interment will be in the Old Brick Church cemetery, Surry, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
