Ernest Ray Clinton transitioned from this life on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Maryland.
Ernest Ray Clinton was born September 10, 1939, in Isle of Wight, Virginia, to the late Ernest O. and Lawnell E. Clinton. The middle of three children, he grew up with his siblings, Helen and Howard.
At an early age, Ernest accepted Christ and joined Christian Home Baptist Church in Windsor, Virginia. He graduated from Isle of Wight Training School (Westside High School), served in the United States Army, and studied at Norfolk State college. During these years, he welcomed daughters Rosalena and Pamela.
Ernest worked in the Virginia shipyards before moving to Turner Station, Maryland, where he built a long career at Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, retiring as a foreman in the early 2000s.
He married Eva Hill on August 20, 1966, and together they shared 59 years of marriage.
Ernest was a dedicated member and Deacon of New Shiloh Baptist Church, a Pop Warner football coach, and a longtime volunteer at Fleming Senior Center. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, and visiting family in Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Howard, and grandson Michael.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Eva Pearle Clinton; daughters Rosalena (DeeDee) Jefferson and Pamela Reese; sister Helen C. Ashburn; special grandson Leo Jones (Angel); bonus children Harry Tynes and Patricia Jones; 7 grandchildren; host of great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; and his New Shiloh Baptist Church family.
On Saturday, January 31, 2026, viewing will take place from 10 am - 12 pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. At 12 pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026, a Celebration of Life will be held at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Clinton family in your thoughts and prayers.
