Ennis Harold Allmond Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 26, 2019 at home. Ennis was born on July 5, 1935 and was the seventh of nine children born to the late David and Ora Gholston Allmond. He worked at Longshoreman for 26 years and retired in 1992. On November 29, 1958 Ennis married Elsie Ethel Allmond. From this union four children were born. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In his free time Ennis loved being in his garden where he grew everything from watermelons to tomatoes. He also enjoyed killing hogs and smoking his own ham. When he wasn't doing those things he was sitting in his recliner watching westerns. Along with his parents , he was preceded in death by his wile Elsie Allmond, his siblings, Beatrice Holland, Elizabeth Pittman, Estelle Whitehead, David Allmond, Herbert Allmond, James Allmond and Robert Allmond. He is survived by his children Sharon Hucks (Gregory) of Smithfield, VA, Ennis Allmond, Jr. (Gina) of Newport News, VA, Cheryl Allmond (Devery Whitehead) of Smithfield, VA and Valeria Allmond of Smithfield, VA; one sibling Charles Allmond of Suffolk, VA; three granddaughters Latoya Allmond, Jasmine Allmond and Kimberly Hucks; two grandsons Jerald Allmond (Tjon) and Gregg Hucks (Tameka); three great grandchildren Shycura Allmond, Jyson Allmond and Madison Hucks; four sisters-in-law Mary Wilson, Essie Walker, Erlene Sellers and Louise Adams; one brother-in-law Otis Collins and a host of other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm Saturday November 2, 2019 at New Jones Grove Baptist Church Windsor, Va. Viewing will take place Friday November 1, 2019 from 4-7pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Professional Services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
