Edna F. Powell succumbed to earthly life as we know it December 27, 2017 at Riverside Hospital Newport News, VA. She retired from Surry High School after more than 40 years of uncompromising resolute service. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and its Trustee Ministry. She is survived by her sons William Joseph Powell (Tracy) and Charles R.D. Powell (Tanesha), three Grandchildren, Cameron, Amaya, and Kailyn. Nephew/Son Julian Evans, Sister Martha Ford Evans Jackson "Cindy" and Nieces, Carla L. Duck, Mary Margaret Damico Gentile and Danielle D'Amico Lawrence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am Wednesday January 3, 2018 at Main Street Baptist Church, Smithfield, VA. Viewing will be held from 4-7pm Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Main Street Baptist Church with a wake service from 5:30-7pm. Interment will take place in the Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery, Smithfield, VA. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
