Edith Goodman,100, transitioned from this life on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Windsor Grove Health and Rehab.

Edith “Edie” Mae Goodman born to Roxie and John Pittman September 16, 1925 in Enfield, North Carolina.

Edith “Edie” Goodman was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy was caring for her family. She built her life upon love, family, and abiding faith.

She was united in marriage to Nelson Goodman, and through every joy and trial, she remained a woman of steadfast faith and prayer.

She was the beloved mother of Ollie Mae (Adam), Roy, Wilhemenia (Alphonso), Brenda (Willie), Don (Rosie), and Martin (Verneka), whom she lovingly raised as her own.

For over fifty years, Edie made her home in New York before settling in Windsor, Virginia, where she spent her later years surrounded by family.

She was a faithful member of Living Water Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia. A woman of deep faith, her life was a living testament to God’s grace and goodness.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roxie and John Pittman; her husband Nelson Goodman; siblings Roy Pittman, Watson Pittman, Leonard Pittman, and Bessie Pittman; daughter Ollie Mae Santiago; son Roy Goodman; and granddaughter Allison Goodman.

She leaves to cherish her memory twenty-five grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandbaby, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Edie asked for nothing but the grace of God, and in His faithfulness, He sustained her through every season. Her strength carried generations, and her prayers covered them all.

“He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:15-16

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, viewing will be held from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. At 11am on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, a Celebration of Life will also be held at the Chapel.  The interment will take place at 12pm November 6, 2025 in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens of Enfield, North Carolina, 248 Meyer Street, Enfield, North Carolina 27823.
