Earl R. Moton

October 15, 1951 — January 14, 2021

Earl Randolph Moton, age 69, transitioned on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his home in Smithfield, VA. He was born on October 15, 1951 in Smithfield, VA to the late Mrs. Shirley V. Bailey. Earl retired from Gwaltney of Smithfield where he worked for many years, and he was a newspaper carrier for Foxx Delivery for thirteen years. Earl was a dedicated Disciple of Solomon's Temple Church where he wore many hats. He served as Deacon, Trustee, Key Holder, Usher, a disciple of the Men's Ministry and The Sons of Solomon men's choir. Earl was dependable and committed and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Earl was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn E. Moton, his mother, father, and several siblings. He leave to cherish his memories daughters, Katrina Fulgham of Surry, VA and Faye Gray; sons, Deunco (Shannon) of Newport News and Carl Henderson, Smithfield, VA; fiance, Joyce Greene and a special young man, Travis Holloway Jr. (T.J.); 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Deborah Colbert, Shelia Minniefield (Dwane), and Sherry Bailey all of Smithfield, VA; three brothers, Melvin, Ronald, and Terry Bailey all of Smithfield, VA; several aunts and uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a loving church family. Earl will be laid to rest on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 12 noon in The Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield, VA. A Graveside Celebration will be held 12pm Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at The Baptist Cemetery. Viewing will take place Monday, January 18, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mr. Moton is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Moton-Bailey family in your thoughts and prayers.
