Drucella “Sis” Fuller-Hicks, a native of Southeast Washington, D.C. and resident of Ivor, Virginia, entered eternal rest on April 6, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on September 1, 1942, to the late Maybel Gardner and Jessie Fuller.
Drucella (one of ten children) was preceded in death by four sisters, one being her identical twin, and three brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, Tyrone Tyson(Linda) and Raymond Gardner.
A faithful member of New Branch Baptist Church, she served on the Missionary Board, Deaconess Board, and Pastor’s Aide Ministry. She found great joy in helping and serving others, which was a true reflection of her caring and giving spirit.
Drucella dedicated many years of service to the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. as well as becoming President of the Judge Social Club. She later worked as a bartender at several establishments along the turnpike in NJ, before relocating to Virginia. There, she pursued her entrepreneurial spirit by starting a small trucking business and later owning and operating Hill’s Diner off Route 460 in Ivor. Drucella eventually retired in 2017 from Senior Services of Southeast Virginia after years of dedicated service.
She enjoyed traveling, dining out, playing spades, attending senior outings, and spending time with family and friends. Known for her warm spirit, everyone to her was “Bae” she would see you and she would say “Heyyyy Derrr” and you knew it was all love.
Drucella’s legacy and memory will live on through the hearts of her four children: Chaka Kwanzaa (Kim), Oliver White, Princess White, and Anita Clay-Moody (Curtis); ten grandchildren, including Quincella “Kimberly” (Otis) whom she lived with while in Virginia Beach until her passing; a host of great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, one on the way; and her beloved goddaughter, Jacqueline “Gail” Holloway, along with many other relatives and friends. She will be remembered for her love, strength, and the joy she brought into the lives of others.
