Dorothy T. Lindsey

DOROTHY TOLER - LINDSEY Mrs. Lindsey was born August 20, 1928, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Henry Toler and Carrie Lou Ward Toler. She was the eldest of five brothers to which all preceded her along with her youngest son Johnny Davis Junior, Grandson Michael R. Young Jr., and niece Cheryl Toler. Mrs. Lindsay is the mother of four children two sons and two daughters. She moved to Brooklyn, New York in the early 1960s to give her children a better life. She was successful in her endeavors. Mrs. Lindsey became a trained nurse's assistant at St. Mary's hospital for over 25 years. After her retirement, she kept busy by volunteering at hospitals. Mrs. Lindsey was a devout Christian, and attended St. Augustine's Episcopal church in Brooklyn, New York. Her faith and trust in God have always been her greatest foundation. She did not mind telling you to put God first. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. We were the joys in her life. We are her proof and the legacy she has left behind. Virginia became home for Mrs. Lindsay after her youngest son John passed in 2015. Mom needed care even more now. Early dementia was beginning as it is a serious illness that causes a person two change slowly and then the progression of the illness. The change became difficult to recognize. Three years of suffering took its toll and now I can say mom is where the Lord wants her to be. On December 6, 2020, early Sunday morning, God gave our mother her wings and praise to the Lord. Her legacy to cherish her memory of son Willie Toler (Miranda), Queens NY. Daughters Evelyn Young (Michael), & Jacki Young (Darryl) Smithfield VA, Sister-in-laws Eloise Toler, Charlotte, NC, Mary Toler'Cheatam, FL, and Annette Toler, Rome, GA. Grandsons' Darryl, Daniel, David, Andr, and William. Granddaughters - Tracy, Valencia, and Erika. Great Grandsons - Dshon, David, Henry, MarQuise, Jackson, Julian, Cassidy. Great Granddaughters - Lauren, Danica, and Lindsey. A host of Nieces, Nephews, friends and special care givers.
