Decatur Crocker Sr.

December 31, 1945 — June 27, 2016

On June 25, 2016, our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather departed this earthly life to find eternal rest with our Heavenly Father. Decatur Crocker Sr. was born on December 31, 1945 to the late Willie Sr., and Bertha Cofer Crocker. He was a member of Brown's A.M.E. Church. Decatur graduated from the Isle of Wight Training School in Smithfield, Virginia. He was employed by Newport News Shipyard where he retired after 26 years of service. Decatur was also the Minister of Music at Brown's A. M. E. Church for many, many years until his health began to fail. He was very gifted in music. He taught himself to play the violin, guitar, piano, banjo, flute, xylophone, and the organ. In addition to his parents, Decatur was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Crocker, Jr., a sister, Alma Crocker, and a son, Alphonso L. Godwin. Decatur leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth Godwin Crocker of Smithfield, Virginia; a son, Decatur Crocker, Jr.; three daughters, Bridgette C. Fields, Kimberly D. Crocker, and Fostiletta Major (Ronnie), all of Smithfield, Virginia.; one grandson and caregiver, Makhi A. Stone, of Smithfield, Virginia; two granddaughters, Dacia Webb of Covington, Georgia, and Eboney McKay of Smithfield, Virginia; five great-grandchildren; six sisters, Beverly (Charlie) Wiggins of Smithfield, Virginia, Veronica (Wesley) Boone of Suffolk, Virginia, Joyce Copeland, of Smithfield, Virginia, Grace Holmes, of Suffolk, Virginia, Emmaline Crocker, and Thelma Crocker, both of Bronx, New York; a brother-in-law, Alfred L. Godwin of Smithfield, Virginia, and a sister-in-law, Alice G. Parker of Smithfield, Virginia; a special friend, Sidney McKay, cousins, nieces, nephews, and caring friends. It is a loving farewell for now, until we meet again. Rest in eternal peace our beloved Decatur.
