Daniel Lynwood Marshall, III, was born September 11, 1970, in Brooklyn New York, a loving and devoted son to his parents Michael and Evelyn Young. Daniel transitioned at the age of 54 on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Queens, New York. Daniel’s parents both retired and moved to Smithfield Virginia, but Daniel maintained his residence in New York. He often came to visit on holidays, and he never forgot his parents and family friends in Smithfield.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved younger brother, Michael Young Jr., Cousin Cheryl Gathers; Uncle Raymond Toler; Uncle Johnny Davis Jr., Uncle Herbert Toler; Cousin William Toler, both maternal and paternal grandparents Dorothy and Lawrence Lindsey and Gloria and Arthur Young.

Daniel spiritual foundation- He was christened at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church of Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 14 he received his religious instruction and was confirmed by the Evangelica Lutheran Saint Paul’s Church of Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. He promised to be steadfast in his Christian faith.

Daniel’s education and work experiences- He attended kindergarten at ABSW day care, elementary schools P.S. 256 and P.S. 194, Shellbank Junior High School and Sheepshead Bay High School, all in Brooklyn, New York. Daniel Joined the United States Army Reserves from1988 to 1996. He was Honorably discharged as a veteran of Desert Storm. Through the military, he received training at the Academy of Health and Sciences at Fort San Houston San Antonio, Texas. There he completed Oral Surgeon Dental Assistant Training. Later, Daniel worked in Starrett City, Dental, and Kings Bay Dental as an Oral Surgeon Assistant. He also worked as a Security Guard at Wells Fargo and recently worked for the Board of Elections in Queens, New York.

However, throughout Daniel ‘s life, his first loves were sports and music. He was a Cowboys and NY Knicks Fan. He had a talent for writing and producing music. Our son Daniel was an inspiration to all who knew him he will truly be missed.

Daniel leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Deacon and Deaconess, Michael and Evelyn Young, and his son De’Shon, who was raised unconditionally loved by his parents and family. Daniel‘s one and only sister Valencia and one devoted nephew, Marquise and lifelong friend Monique Whyte of Brooklyn; his grand Aunt Elois Toler, Three Uncles and Aunts Willie/Miranda Toler, Darryl/Jacki Young, Robert Eric/ Julie Young. Cousins, Audrey T., Yvette/Jeff J., Darryl T. , David/Faizah T., Andre Y., Darryl Y., Jay B., Albert G. Jr., Erika Y., Eric Y.Jr., Travis/Zariah S. There are many more cousins, family members and friends. You all know who you are. Daniel loved all of us unconditionally and he will be truly missed.

On Friday, August 29, 2025, viewing will be held from 4-7pm at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church. At 11am on Saturday, August 30, 2025, a Celebration of Life Service will also be held at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Burial will take place September 4, 2025 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434 Please keep the Marshall family in your thoughts and prayers.
