Dalton Lee Batten, a native of Isle of Wight County and the son of the late Clem and Agnes Batten, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 2nd 2021 at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Va. He was 78. Any attempt to summarize this man’s life in the few words allotted here would be futile at best but it suffices to say that if you had the chance to meet this man it would be a meeting that you would not soon forget. Armed with an infectious smile, quick wit and unbridled humor, he had the ability to turn any frown upside down and brighten your darkest days. Even in his final days you could still find him bringing people to tears with laughter and reciting the quirky nicknames he had assigned to those he loved. His propensity to freely give of his time and to help those in need around him rounded out his larger-than-life personality and his absence has created a void that will not be easily filled. The world indeed is a little darker now that he is no longer with us but remembering his exploits and funny jokes has the family laughing even as we gather around the table to prepare this obituary and to look for strength to face the dark days ahead. Thank you, Dalton, Dad, Papa for making us laugh once again even from the other side. What you brought to us in life you continue to bring us now that you are gone and we feel forever grateful and blessed that you were a part of our lives. The following loved ones are left to mourn his passing and we are grateful for those who have gathered with us to celebrate the life and mourn the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great grandfather, Brother, Brother-in-law, Uncle, Cousin and Friend.
