Curtis Lee Jones Sr., 89 was born on July 1, 1926 to the late Thomas and Sular Jones. He departed this life on Monday, December 21st at Maryview Medical Center at 12:21pm. God uniquely had the date and time to match, to let us know I'm in the mist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Sular Jones, daughter; Maxine Jones Johnson; five brothers; Dennis, Joe Hubert, Russell, Harry and William Henry; five sisters; Majorie Hill, Florine Ghoston, Ellen Thomas, Lillie Mae and Marie. He went to school in Hobson and joined the U.S. Army in 1945. He married Elnora Thomas on December 2, 1944 and from this union two children were born. They celebrated 71 years of marriage on December 2nd "To God Be The Glory". He worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Rigger Forman for 33 years and later retired in 1981. Curtis was a member of the Mt. Lebanon C.O.G.I.C. in Suffolk, VA (Hobson area) for over 20 years. He attended Sunday school and morning worship services regularly and was a faithful usher. Curtis really loved his Pastor; Elder Larry Gray Sr. God inspired Curtis to ask the saints of the church to purchase Elder Gray a new car. He supported the church with his tithes and offerings even in his absence. Curtis was a devoted husband to his wife Elnora. In her time of sickness he took very good care of her. He leaves to cherish his memory his sweetheart; Mother Elnora Jones; his son Curtis Lee Jones Jr. (Shirley Mae) of Chesapeake, VA; four grandchildren; Alphonso, Shawn, Curtis III and Pam Johnson; A special daughter; Mother Nellie M. Townes of Chesapeake, VA; A special son, Min. Herman Terrell of Hampton, VA; Three sisters; Georgette Thomas of Portsmouth; Alease Giles of Suffolk and Ajane Jones; one brother; Bruce Jones (Shirley) of New Jersey; one sister-in law, Dennis Silver of New York; one brother-in law, Pernell Thomas of New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Viewing will be Sunday December 27, 2015 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm at the chapel. A funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, December 28, 2015 at Mt. Lebanon Church of God, Suffolk Virginia.Burial Date December 28, 2015
