Cleo B. Kelly

On April 15, 2023 Mom Boldy and verbally expressed to the Lord “Feed me till I want no more- . She told God that her soul was ready and that she was ready to see Him so her soul could rest Mom also stated that her soul was going to leave her body and be with the Lord. She spoke about the dancing Angels and how pretty they were, I then realized that she was preparing herself to take flight and gain her heavenly crown”

-AS RECOUNTED BY HER DAUGHTER DONNA

Cleo B. Kelly slopped peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday 18, 2023 at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Suffolk, VA. She was born on January 31, 1939, to the late Hubert Bradby Sr, and Grace Hill Bradby in Rushmere, VA.

Cleo accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. As a member of First Gravel Hill Baptist Church, she sang with the Senior Choir and worked diligently with the Senior’s Ministry and attended fair Oaks Sunday School in Rushmere Virginia. Cleo was a leader and organizer; therefore, she was an active participant in many church programs and planned many trips for the Senior’s Ministry.

Her most memorable and active role was serving as Captain for the Bradby family, leading up to Family and Friends Day. When asked to speak, pray, introduce a speaker or be the lead person of a church program or event, the word ‘no’ was never part of her vocabulary. She worked diligently for god so that her living would not be in vain.

Cleo was educated in the Isle of Wight County School System and was employed by Gwaltney Meat Packing Plant of Smithfield, VA for 29 years. Cleo was predeceased (Natalie) by her sister, Janie B. Watson (Pernell, Sr.) and brothers, Allen Bradby (Natalie) and Linwood Bradby.

To cherish her memories, Cleo leave a devoted and dedicated daughter, Donna Kelly Mason (Misclear “Shorty”) of Smithfield, VA; two brothers, Hubert “Donnie” Bradby, Jr. of Smithfield, VA, and Dr. George “Bob” Bradby (Sarah) of Carrollton, VA;nieces, Rhonda Y. “Susie:, Terry J. Watson, and Verna  “Pumpkin” Bradby; nephews, Jeffrey “Fella” Bradby (Patricia), Pernell “PJ” Watson, Jr. (Barnessa), Allen “Charlie Brown” Bradby and Kevin Bradby, Jr. (Kia) her special double first cousin, and best friend and “playmate” Jean B. Jones; another special cousin, Florease H. Minnis; her special great nephew, Christopher Bradby whom she affectionately called “Sug” and raised until he started school; great nieces and nephews, and a host of other cousins, other relatives and friends.
