Clarence "Bootsy" Taliaferro

Clarence "Bootsy" Taliaferro transitioned from this life on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Walter Reed Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center. Clarence “Bootsey” Edward Taliaferro was born October 30, 1946 in Smithfield, VA to the late Otis Lee Taliaferro and Sadie Lillie Mae Clarke Taliaferro. To the family he was known as Jug and Jughead. Clarence was a member of Mt Sinai Baptist Church. He loved baseball and played for the Smithfield Braves/Sluggers. He attended Isle of Wight County Schools and later enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam war where he received a purple heart as well as other awards. He then went to work as a painter and retired from Dominion Power. “Jug” was a family man and took pride in being there when people needed him most. He was the most selfless person even if it meant going without for himself. To ensure that he could do for others, he would sacrifice his own needs to help get what anyone else wanted. He was a very thoughtful, kind, caring and loving man that found joy in keeping you laughing. He would keep you laughing even when you really didn’t want to. He was the life of the party everywhere he went. Clarence “Bootsey’ was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Sadie Taliaferro, his sisters; Lillie Mae, Eulalia (Charles), Audrey (James), Artis Mae (Gene), Lorene (Robert), his brothers; Otis Lee, Jr. Essray (Bessie), Earl (Brendolyn), William (Christine) and Miles (Maggie). Clarence “Bootsey’ is survived by his wife Brenda, children, Quindell, carmen, Darren,, Braden, Brent and Amber, his sister Sadie, brother Harold, grandchildren Jonathan, Joshua, Justin, Kevin Jr., Courtney, Colby, Royce, Reese, Terrell, Jordon, Madison, Sasha, Bree, Aniya, Deron and Ayden. He also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved just as dearly. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 17, 2021 at Shivers Funeral Chapel BY INVITATION ONLY. Limited attendance will be strictly adhered to and required. Viewing will take place from 4-6 pm Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held 10:00am on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Cemetery.
