Clarence E. Perry

Clarence Edward Perry passed away at his home on Friday, December 10, 2021 with his wife Shealler and their niece Angela by his side. He was born on December 4, 1942, to the late V. Irene and Clarence O. Perry. Clarence received his formal education in the Washington, D.C. School District and graduated from McKinley Tech High School in 1960. He continued his education at the American University, receiving a degree in Governmental Studies. Clarence served his country in the United States Air Force and received an Honorable Discharge in 1965. He began his career in Law Enforcement with the U.S. Park Police in Washington, D.C., which spanned over 20 years. He retired with honors from the U.S. Park Police. After retirement he was employed by the Prince George County, Maryland School District as a Security Officer, where he worked until 1995. Clarence was then appointed to the Glenarden, Maryland Police Department as Chief of Police. In addition to his other law enforcement experiences, Clarence performed duties with criminal investigative services, extensive exposure in dignitary protection, and the United States Marshall Service. In 2008, Clarence and Shealler moved away from Maryland and built a home in Surry County, VA. They loved family and friends and hosted numerous dinners and other functions at their home. They were avid travelers and went on many cruises during their retirement. Clarence and Shealler lived life to the fullest. While in Surry County, he was appointed to the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program by the Surry County Board of Supervisors. He also served on the Transportation/Highway Safety Board. He joined the Poplar Lawn Baptist Church in Surry with his wife, where he took in the messages and enjoyed fellowshipping with his pastor and other members. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dr. Leona Perry Edwards, He is survived by his devoted wife, Shealler, five (5) sons: Christopher Perry (Angie), David Perry, Jonathan Perry (Cecelia), Noble Joel Price (Veronica), Elder Michael Price (Felicia), ten (10) grandchildren, and a number of brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Service of Celebration will be held 11am Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, Surry, Va. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Friday, December 17, 2021 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Perry family in your prayers. View Memorial Tribute
