The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want. On Tuesday, August 16, 2016, the Lord called our dear brother and uncle Christopher Tyrone Parker to his heavenly home. Chris was born on April 15, 1962 to the late Sarah T. and Eddie M. Parker Sr. He was the youngest of 11 children and attended Westside Elementary School and Smithfield High School. He worked at ITT Gwaltney of Smithfield, Clover Leaf Refrigeration and RFS refrigeration at one point in his life. He was a very giving and compassionate person who loved to draw cartoon characters and models. Everyone knew that Chris didn't have any biological children, but was always taking care of other children as though they were his own. He would make a point to call everyone and anyone who wished to talk to him on a daily basis. Christopher was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Parker, two sisters; Christine Massenburg and Carrie Wiggins, One Brother; Vincent Parker, One Brother-in-law; Arthur Wiggins, several aunts and uncles. Chris leaves plenty of memories to three sisters; Phyllis Lindsay, Constance Batten (Bobbie), Alsendia Wells (Michael), four brothers; Eddie M. Parker Jr. (Dell), William A. Parker (Valerie), Dwight A. Parker (Gail), Lawrence A. Parker (Marlene), one Aunt; Neola Edwards, several nieces. nephews, cousins, and a special friend Senetta Taylor. We will certainly miss our brother, uncle and cousin. A service to celebrate his life will be held 12pm Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield, VA. Viewing will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 4-7pm at the chapel. Interment will be held at Tynes Memorial Cemetery, Smithfield, Va. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
