Charlotte Y. Wilkerson

Charlotte Yvette Wilkerson peacefully transitioned from this life to eternal rest at the age of 60 on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Charlotte was born on Thursday, August 6, 1964, in Suffolk, Virginia, to Wesley J. Wilkerson and Dorothy A. Wilkerson. She received her education through the Special Education Department of Isle of Wight County Public Schools. Charlotte was a resident of Finney Avenue for many years where they will remember Charlotte fondly and cherish their time together.

Charlotte will be remembered for her joyful spirit and love for simple pleasures. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, coloring, and—when she had the chance—taking control of the television remote. Charlotte had a warm and playful spirit that left an impression on everyone. She was known for her signature greeting, cheerfully saying, “Hey, Girlfriend, I missed you!” followed quickly by, “What’s your name? I’m Charlotte.”

She was preceded in death by her father, Wesley J. Wilkerson, and her brother, Wesley D. Wilkerson. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted mother, Dorothy King Wilkerson; her loving sisters, Beatrice Etheridge (Anthony), Stephanie McRae, and Rachel Gholston (Michael); and her beloved nieces and nephews: Jada, Anthony, Tavazier, Kelley, and Chandler and great-niece and nephew: Jaden and Cameron.

Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed, and very dear.

On Wednesday, August 6, 2025 viewing will take place from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor COGIC Church Cemetery,13468 Waterworks Road, Smithfield, VA. Please keep the Wilkerson family in your prayers.
