Charles L. Johnson

December 7, 1958 — March 26, 2021

On March 26, 2021 our beloved brother, stepfather, and uncle, Charles Lorenzo Johnson, gained his heavenly wings. He was the husband of the late Carine Ellis Johnson. Charles was also known as “Lo Lo.” He was born December 7, 1958 to the late Anderson Ross Johnson and Ruth Alice Hilliard Johnson. To that union, ten children were born. Lo Lo was the seventh child, but the first to gain his wings.

Lo Lo was born in Sussex County but attended Southampton County Public Schools. He eventually moved back to Sussex County (Wakefield). In his early years, he picked up a trade in carpentry. He was an exceptionally good artist and had a true love for drawing. Bodybuilding was also one of his favorite hobbies.

Lo Lo leaves to cherish his memory two stepdaughters Marie Grinstead and Lynette Ellis; five sisters Mary Hilliard, Alice Gatling (James) of Wakefield, VA, Charlotte Hamlin of Newport News, VA, Ruth Warren (Charles) of Sedley, VA and Lisa Lanier (Joseph) of Dinwiddie, VA; four brothers Ross Johnson (Jean) of Dendron, VA, Lee Johnson (Jacquelyn) of Dendron, VA, Clennis Johnson (Barbara) of Smithfield, VA and Tony Johnson (Janice) of Waverly, VA; one great-aunt Inell Stith of Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
