Reflections on the Life of Charles Lee Bibbins, III
"God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he wrapped his arms around you and whispered come to me.
On March 31, 2026, the angels carried Charles to glory peacefully at home following a brief illness at the age of 62. Charles was born July 8, 1963, to the late Charles Lee Bibbins, II and the late Brenda Morris Bibbins in Manhattan, New York.
When he was 12 years old, his father moved his family from New York to Eastville, Virginia. Charles graduated from Northampton Hight School in Northampton County, Virginia. Charles accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age.
He met and married the love of his life Monica ”Dee Dee” Hill August 29, 1992. To that beautiful union two awesome and handsome sons- Maurice Bibbins and Mario Bibbins.
Charles, Dee Dee, Maurice and Mario were members of New Life Church in Hampton for many years. After the Pandemic, Charles and Dee Dee decided to continue to learn about the goodness of the Lord from online services from Pastor Jerome Barber at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple in Hampton, Virginia.
Charles was one who loved to work and provide for his family, he was an easy-going guy and very traditional in having his wife stay home the majority of the time to raise their two sons.
Charles had been working since he was 12 years old and he was always providing for his mom and siblings when he was growing up. When he got married in August of 1992 to his wife, he continually kept providing diligently for her and their family.
He retired August 1, 2025 from working at Wanchese Fish Company in Suffolk, Virginia. Two days later he ended up getting sick.
Charles and his wife lived at Virginia Commonwealth Medical Center for two months. He never complained about being sick and was so thankful to God every day that he was still alive, as he was determined to fight a good fight-in which he did. His family witnessed his fighting so hard and so long to stay here on earth with us. However, our Lord and Savior knew that his time serving on this earth was coming to completion.
He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother uncle and friend. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and a few friends. He loved tinkling with cars and cooking Boston Butts in his pressure cooker.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles II and Brenda Bibbins , his parents in love Frederick and Gladys Hill, his brother John Bibbins and his brother in love Frederick A. Hill.
Charles leaves a legacy of love and memories: a devoted and loving wife of 33 years, Monica D. Hill Bibbins; two awesome and devoted children, Maurice Bibbins (Naomi) and Mario Bibbins (Krystal); his sister, Cynthia Lawes(PastorTyrone) of Columbus, Ohio. Two brothers in love Monty Hill (Pat) and Brian Hill (Dr. Jacqueline); three nieces- Monica Brown Cowan (Jamie) Brianna Hill and Joycelyn Hill; two nephews, Jalen Johnson and Hans Henry; four great nephews- Joshua Brown, Josiah Brown, Jordan Johnson and Reese Johnson; along with a host of loving and caring uncles, aunts, cousins(especially Al Johnson, Pat Toy, Tracey Parker and friends- as well as Miranda and Jennifer) with their knowledge of special herbs and vitamins; and we cannot forget our two fur grand dogs, Chico and Lunna; special sisters in love, Chile’ Obbo, Kimberly Lankford, Connie Edwards, Doris Johnson, Daphne Liggins, Caroline Waiter, Sylvia Gundy, Lori Cooper and Brenda Bynum.
Charles will be missed by many but not forgotten by any. To God be the glory for his grace, mercy and goodness!
“With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away, and although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.”
