Cecil Clyde Brown, III

Cecil “Clyde” Brown III, 60 of Portsmouth, Va passed away on October 4, 2023.  He was born in Portsmouth to the late Cecil Clyde Brown II and Elsewood S. Upton Brown.  Predeceased in death by sister Gayle B. Galiney and brother Jeffery S. Upton.

Clyde graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1982.  His best friend Junior Harris tells, about playing him football early on and Clyde lettering in wrestling his senior year.  He was also very talented in Mechanical Drawing. 

Clyde went on to work for several local Contractors, Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Tidewater Community College.  Clyde enjoyed spending time with his special friend Beth Simpson. They took some time to travel Europe.  Clyde was also a member of the Local Jaycees and was always available to help his friends and family.

He is survived by two brothers Charles Upton and wife Cyndi, Michael Upton and wife Tina: and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be buried in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth Va, next to his parents. 

A “Celebration of Clyde's Life” is planned at a later date.  Donations in his honor to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation or American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is appreciated.
