Catherine S. Hill

Catherine Shivers Hill affectionately known as “Cat” to family and friends entered into this life on February 9, 1950 to the late Mills Daniel Shivers and Gracie Lee Parker Shivers

On Saturday, March 9, 2019 she answered the Master’s call and transitioned with peace and dignity.

“Cat” was baptized by the late Rev, Dr. J. Arthur Taylor in the James River at Morgarts Beach. She later joined Word Mission under the pastorate of Rev. Lawrence Robertson.

After graduation from Westside High School “Cat” worked at Hardees, K-Mart and Gwaltney’s for a number of years.

In 1980 she joined in holy matrimony with Tyrone Hill of  Smithfield, VA and together they had two children.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents Mills and Gracie Lee Shivers, her loving son Sylvester T. Hill, Jr. nephew David Tynes, Jr. and nieces Shericka Goza and Sherry Tynes.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband  Sylvester Hill, daughter Sheena Hill, three sisters; Vivian Shivers, Ida Henly and Octavia Tynes (David), one grandson, Nathaniel Hill, great nephews, Jacoby Roberts, Jeremy Goza and Tyler Tynes, great niece Kaylyn Tynes and  a host of  other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Thursday March 14, 2019 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Wednesday March 13, 2019 from 4-7pm also at the Chapel.  Interment Tynes Memorial Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
