Betty Wilson Langhorne

October 3, 1954 — March 6, 2021

Minister Betty Wilson Langhorne transitioned from Labor to Reward on Saturday, March 6, 2021. On March 6, 2021, Minister Betty Wilson Langhorne was escorted by God's angels, from this world into her time of rest, and entered the Church Triumphant. Minister Langhorne was born on October 3, 1954 in Smithfield Virginia to the late James Robert Wilson and Estelle Hall Wilson. She was the youngest of 8 children, of whom preceded her in death, James (Sonny Boy) Wilson, Robert (Cheetah) Wilson, Barbara W. Johnson, Janice W. Thomas, and Walter (WP) Wilson. Minister Langhorne was educated in the Isle of Wight public school system, graduating from Smithfield High School. She later attended Norfolk State University and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education with Advanced endorsements in learning disabilities and emotional disturbance. Minister Langhorne also loved basketball and played during high school and for the Norfolk State Spartans. On February 29, 1992, she married the love of her life, Wayne Langhorne and became the daughter in love of the late Nicholas Langhorne. Betty and Wayne had one son, Wayne Langhorne II and one stepdaughter, Tiffany Smith (Ryan). Minister Langhorne had a passion for the ministry of helps and it started in her profession as a Special Education teacher in both Sussex and Isle of Wight County for over 30 years, until she retired in 2006. Minister Langhorne was a woman of many talents, as she served as an assistant wedding coordinator to her mentor, First Lady Norvice Sellers for 25 years, later starting her business as a professional wedding coordinator for another 15 years. Minister Betty Langhorne was a devoted and faithful member of the Mt. Tabor Church of God in Christ, in Smithfield Virginia. She served whole-heartedly in the Hospitality ministry, the Senior Choir, the Young Women's Christian Council, and as the President of the Purity Class. She was also a weekly panelist on the church's Saturday Radio Program "The Christian Rappers" and was a member of the Minister, Deacon's & Trustees Wives auxiliary. Faithfully serving the Lord, Betty took great pride and honor as the armor-bearer for the late Apostle, then First Lady Norvice G. Sellers. She was a humble servant and her dedication in doing so with the spirit of excellence was unparalleled. She desired to honorably serve her leaders so much that she and her family relocated to continue to serve both Chief Apostle Clarence & Apostle Norvice G. Sellers, as they began a new journey starting the A.C.E. Faith Kingdom Church, in Orlando Florida. While at the A.C.E. Faith Kingdom Church she was very active as the Servant Sister's Ministry Leader, the Hospitality Team Leader, Lead edifice and events decorator and many other capacities. She was beloved by so many of the A.C.E. Faith Kingdom Church. In the midst of her service and the leading of the Holy Spirit, Betty acknowledged her call to the ministry and was licensed by late Apostle Norvice G. Sellers. She is survived by her devoted husband Wayne Vincent Langhorne; children Wayne V. Langhorne, II of Orlando, FL and Tiffany Smith (Ryan of Hampton, VA); siblings: Vivian (Ernest) Evans and Norma Wilson of Smithfield, VA; In Laws: Geneva Langhorne (Mother in Love) of Hampton, VA; siblings in love: , Calvin (Valerie) Langhorne of Carrollton, VA, and Gwendolyn (Lloyd) Francis of Newport News, VA; Anthony (Kishawna) Langhorne of Newport News, VA; Aunts: Annie Hall and Florence Lane both of Smithfield, VA; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; God children: Jaleesa Whitley, Jasmine (Jarrod) McCartney and Cameron Fields; Cherished Extended Family: Chief Apostle Clarence Sellers, Sr., Elder Benita Austin (Minister Calvin), Supt. Minister Betty Wilson Langhorne epitomized the very essence of the scripture, in Luke 22: 26-27, being that the greatest amongst us are those who serve. Although she is gone from our physical presence, her impact through the love of the Lord and service to His people will continue forever. Well done our beloved, for God is surely well pleased.
