New Jersey: On June 28, 2015, our dear mother and grandmother went to join the Savior in ahome built not with hands, but whose maker and builder is God. Bernice B. Kea was the daughter of the late Whitfield and Rosa Johnson. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized and joined Mount Olive Holiness Church. She attended Isle of Wight County public schools and graduated from high school. She met and married the late George T. Kea, Sr. After marriage they lived in Smithfield, Va but decided to relocate to New Jersey. There she worked at Livingston Manor Nursing Home until retirement. Work was demanding but she was a dedicated homemaker at heart. She leaves to cherish her memory 5 children, Nancy Perkerson(Kevin) of Hampton, Va, George T. Kea, Jr.(Elaine), of Union, NJ, Lewis Kea of Allentown, Pa, Dwight Kea(Robin) of Hillside, NJ, Veronica Kea Terry(Gregory) of Newark, NJ, 5 grandchildren, Tiyia, Thomas(Tashia), Sheron(Duane), Quiyada, 2 great grandchildren, 1 sister-n-law, Bertha Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were 4 siblings, Hoover and, Herculus Johnson, Mary Alice Powell, Thelma Davis, 2 adopted brothers, James and Claude Mason. A funeral Service will be held 12pm Monday, July 6, 2015 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place in the Emmanuel Baptist church Cemetery, Smithfield. Viewing will be one hour before the service at the chapel.
