Benjamin Beamon Sr.

John 16:22 Benjamin Maurice Beamon Sr. departed this life on Saturday November 7, 2020 at Sentara Hospice House. Benjamin Maurice Beamon Sr., also known as "Ski Love" was born on December 31, 1969 in Suffolk, Virginia to Annette Beamon Ricks and Orvel Beamon Sr. He attended Smithfield High School until his senior year. He transferred to Phoebus High School where he graduated in 1989. Ben served two years in the United States Navy. He was currently employed at GPC, A Joint Venture at Cheatham Annex for over twenty years. Ben loved life, family, football, and friends. He had an uncanny way of making others smile. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He gave the best bear hugs. He was also a problem-solver who often took on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house. He was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, and friend that will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Russell Ricks. Treasuring his memory are his mother, Annette Beamon Ricks of Newport News, VA, his father Orvel Beamon Sr. (Mary) of Suffolk, VA; children Benjamin Beamon Jr. of Hampton, VA, NiKayla Beamon of Hampton, VA, Brianna Hart of Hampton, VA; granddaughter Brielle Surai Hart; four brother Lee Beamon Sr. (Charlene) of Hampton, VA, Michel Riddick (Lenore) of Suffolk, VA, Orvel Beamon Jr. of Suffolk, VA, Troy Beamon of Raleigh, NC; six sisters Tara Griffin of Newport News, VA, Renita Sumblin (Ken) of Leesburg, VA, Evelyn Boykins of Suffolk, VA, Jacqueline Thompson (Mark) of Suffolk, VA, Marline Whitehead (Maurice) of Suffolk, VA, Tomika Beamon of Suffolk, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, one great niece, one great nephew, and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Bennett's Creek Park. Public Viewing will be held Friday, November 13, from 4-6 pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel.
