The Life of BayBoy Winnegan

Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what’s to be, a resting place along the road, to sweet eternity.

Bayboy Winnegan, age 87, passed away from this life suddenly on July 7, 2025, at Norfolk General Hospital. He was born October 12,1937, in Isle of Wight to the late Gloston Winnegan, Sr. and Jennie V. Parker-Winnegan. He worked for David Nelms Plumbing &Septic in Smithfield, VA until he retired. Bayboy truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends, listening, dancing to music and snacking on sweets.

Bayboy is preceded in death by eight siblings: Garland, James, Vernon, Gordon Ray, Gloston, Jr., Charlene Ford, Mary Ann Drew, and Josie Johnson and special companions Virginia Gholston and Rhonda Wright.

He will be cherished and greatly missed by his daughters: Shirley Edwards (Raymond), Ruby Clarke and Evelyn Holloman. His siblings: Alease Greene, Mable Wester, Gloria Williams (Bill),Susie Drew, Gladys Bailey (Horace), Thomas (Lavenia), Nelson (Patrice) and sisters-in-law Bernice Winnegan and Rose Winnegan. Grandchildren: Eric Holloman, Wanda Clarke, Jenial Hopkins, Tara Clarke, Craig Clarke, and great grandchildren: Ebony Clarke, Tierra Goodwin, Christopher Anderson, Cameron Brown, Kevon Anderson, Terren Clarke, Alexis Anderson, Ja Kye Clarke, Messiah Clarke and a host of other relatives and friends.

At any given time, you visited Bayboy, you could find his nephew Stacy Jones and caregiver Evelyn Rowe, there assisting him with whatever was needed. God blessed Bayboy with a handful of angels right here on earth. And behind the scenes, making sure every detail was in order, was Shirley Edwards.

We rejoice that our beloved Bayboy is resting.

On Wednesday, July 16, 2025 viewing will take place from 3-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in New Jones Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Windsor, VA 23487. Please keep the Winnegan family in your prayers
