Aulinda Nicole Byrd (“Nikki”)

October 17, 1971 – June 21, 2026

Aulinda Nicole Byrd, affectionately known as “Nikki,” earthly journey ended peacefully on June 21, 2026, surrounded by her immediate family.

Born on October 17, 1971, to Audrey L. Byrd and the late Homer R. Byrd, Jr., Nikki was raised in Elberon, Virginia. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful member of St. Paul Holiness Church, where she served in the choir, hospitality ministry, and various church activities. A lover of gospel music, she found great joy in worship and praise, often expressing her faith through song and by playing the tambourine, clarinet, and saxophone.

Aulinda was a 1990 graduate of Surry County High School and remained a proud and faithful Cougar fan throughout her life. While she was always present to support her own children, her enthusiasm extended far beyond her family. Whether cheering from the stands, attending school events, or celebrating student achievements, Nikki was a devoted supporter of Surry County Public Schools, its athletic programs, and the young people of her community. She took genuine pride in encouraging students, athletes, educators, and coaches alike and found joy in seeing others succeed.

She later graduated from Commonwealth College and became known for her strong work ethic and compassionate spirit. Nikki faithfully served others through her work at Eastern State Hospital, Busch Gardens, and most notably as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Caring for people was more than a profession for her—it was a calling. She approached every responsibility with dedication, dignity, and a sincere desire to help those in need.

Her servant's heart extended far beyond her professional life. Nikki was a true missionary within her community, quietly meeting needs wherever she found them. She was actively involved in community programs and initiatives that supported and uplifted others. She faithfully visited the sick, checked on the elderly, provided transportation to doctor's appointments, grocery stores, and other essential errands, and made sure people could get to the polls to exercise their right to vote. Whether through organized community efforts or simple acts of kindness, Nikki never sought recognition for her service; she simply believed in helping others and showing the love of Christ through her actions.

Nikki never met a stranger and found joy in celebrating others. She often called the Steve Harvey Morning Show to recognize birthdays and anniversaries for loved ones.

Of all the roles she held, Nikki cherished being a mother above all else. Her children, AnJanette and Adarian, were her greatest pride and joy. She was their biggest supporter, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on, encourage their talents, and nurture their faith. Whether attending games, performances, church events, or life's everyday moments, Nikki made sure her children knew they were deeply loved. Her life reflected determination, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to both family and God.

Even during her final season of life, Nikki's faith never wavered. Despite illness, she remained devoted to worship, family, and celebrating the milestones of those she loved. One of her greatest blessings was witnessing the marriage of her daughter, AnJanette, before her passing. Surrounded by family, faith, and love, she found comfort in seeing her children continue to flourish.

Nikki leaves behind a legacy marked by faith, perseverance, compassion, and service. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted mother, Audrey L. Byrd (Louis); her beloved children, AnJanette Byrd-Osbourne (Bryce) and Adarian Byrd; her brothers, Brian Byrd (Stacey), Brenton Byrd (Chanique), and Louis Byrd Jr. (Cynthia); her sisters, Kimberly Byrd and Sadreka B. Bey (Jerome); her nephews, Breyden, Alex, and Andrew Byrd; her niece, Bre'cha Byrd; her aunts, Geneva Beckett, Linda Ellis, Geneva Langhorne, and Lydia Langhorne; her uncles, Garland Langhorne and Ernest Langhorne (Michelle); and a host of loving relatives, friends, church family, classmates, and community members.

Aulinda will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love of music, her tireless work ethic, her commitment to community service, and her devotion to family. Through her involvement in church, community programs, school activities, and countless acts of kindness, she touched the lives of many. Her life was a testimony of service, strength, compassion, and love, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Viewing will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Saint Paul's Holiness Church, 8645 Rolfe Hwy., Dendron, VA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the church. Interment will follow in Saint Paul's Cemetery, 3081 Holly Bush Rd., Dendron, VA. Please keep the Byrd family in your thoughts and prayers.
