Aston D. Howard Watkins

Smithfield: Aston Denise Watkins Howard departed from earthly cares of life to eternal rest on Friday morning, October 2, 2015 at Sentara Obici Hospital Suffolk, VA. Denise was born on October 7, 1953 here in Isle of Wight County to the late Lelia Aston Clarke Watkins and Charles Bernard Watkins. She graduates from Smithfield High School in 1971 and attended Tidewater Community College. She retired from Ferguson Enterprises Newport News, VA when she moved to Smithfield. In 1979, Denise's life changed forever. Denise joined Souls Paradise Church Of God In Christ Jesus and was introduced to the True and Living God. There she met her husband, Joseph Donald Howard and they were married November 3, 1991. She leaves to mourn her, Joseph her husband, two siblings, Mary LaVerne Watkins Thornton (Wayne) Portsmouth, VA and Charles Wayne Watkins (Lisa) Smithfield, VA. A nephew, Spencer Charles-Cedric Thornton and Five nieces, Charlise Jimya, Aston Faith, Naomi Morgan, Rachel Makaya and Jordan Jewel Watkins. Three Aunts, Lillie Watkins Fields, Norfolk, VA, Hattie Clarke Roberts, Suffolk, VA and Shirley Clarke Pierce, Smithfield, VA. Always Special in her thoughts and prayers were, her God Son, Spencer Charles-Cedric Thornton, Special Daughter, Jeanine Jiles Thibodeaux and Special Grand- Daughter, Geonne. Thank You Lord for allowing Denise to be a part of our lives. A Funeral Service will be held 12pm Wed. Oct. 7, 2015 at Shivers Funeral Chapel Viewing Wednesday Oct. 06, 2015 from 4-7pm at the chapel.
