Arthur O'neal Laws

Arthur Oneal Laws aka "Oneal", "Art", "Bucket" returned to spirit on January 15, 2020. Arthur was the first born to Arthur Drew Jr. and Alice Laws Marshall on June 5, 1982. Arthur attended Smithfield High School where he was a valued member of the academic team and graduated Class of 2000 with over a 4.00 GPA. Arthur began his career as an outside machinist at Newport News Shipyard. In 2004, he was accepted into Norfolk Naval Shipyard's Apprenticeship Program as a marine machine apprentice. Arthur excelled throughout the four year program and was promoted to Journeyman Mechanic six months early on recommendation of his Shop Superintendent. Additionally, he graduated as program's Class of 2008 valedictorian. Within a few months of completing the program, Arthur was promoted to a marine machine mechanic supervisor which was one of many promotions that led to his most recent position as a Carrier Program Liaison. Arthur took his career seriously and gave 100% in all his responsibilities. Arthur was preceded in death by his grandfathers Arthur Drew and Jake Warren; grandmothers Mary Ann Drew and Mary Warren; uncles Raymond and Donald Drew; aunt Angela McNeil and brother Christopher Laws (1983-2004). Arthur has an abundance of family and friends to cherish his memory including both parents Arthur Drew Jr. (Chonda) and Alice Laws Marshall (Ray), his grandmother Jackie Warren, his siblings a younger brother Dominick Laws (Raquel) and two younger sisters Jasmine and Jalisa Drew. Arthur was also the loving uncle to four nieces and one nephew whom he made an effort to spoil rotten. His best friends and co-workers for over a decade Keyonia Smith, Candace Washington and Amber Smith-St. Louis will always hold in their hearts the great times they shared with Arthur. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of aunts, uncles and many other relatives and friends. The family prays that Arthur be remembered for the bright, generous, stylish, hardworking, food-loving, dependable, loyal, and loving person he was. May God bless his soul.
