Arthur F. Butler

Smithfield Deacon Arthur F. Butler entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Consulate Healthcare in Windsor, Va. He was a native of Isle of Wight County. He was born on October 31, 1917 to the late William & Daisy Clark Butler. He is the last of his eleven siblings . Deacon Arthur Butler accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He served in various capacities at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Ivor, Va. He was a musician for the Men's Chorus, served as chairman of Anniversary Committee under the Pastorage of Rev. H. R. Maynor. He also served on the Deacon's Board and many other capacities in ministry until his health begin to fell. Up until several months ago he was faithfully reciting the Lord's Prayer and the 23rd Psalms. You could catch him anytime of the day with his long sleeved shirt, necktie, and his cross. He will always be remembered by his love of breakfast food, such as banquet sausage , egg beaters, applesauce, two rolls, banana & coffee. Also his peppermint candy and his name brand chewing gum(EXTRA). We will forever remember him saying "Give me a piece of candy to put in my mouth to make me feel better. He was a retired truck driver for Smithfield Packing for over 45 years. He was a great family man. From the union of his first wife, Bettie Winnegan Butler was born four daughters and one son. After the death of his wife Bettie, in 1977 he married his current wife Alberta S. Butler. He was preceded in death by his son and his oldest daughter Daisy M. Spratley and two sons-in-law. He He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Alberta S. Butler(baby) his daughters, Gracie M. Wilkerson, Betty J. White, Lillie A. Wilhite(Curtiss), Francine Hollomon(Chris), Pernell White; son-in-law; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12pm Saturday, August 01, 2015 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Viewing will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 from 4-7pm at the chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

Burial Date August 1, 2015

Viewing will be Fri. July 31, 2015 from 4-7pm at Shivers Funeral Home.
