Arlene Langhorne

November 30, 1943 — October 17, 2015

Surry Arlene Langhorne joined her heavenly father on Saturday, October 17, 2015. She was born in Wakefield, VA on November 30, 1943 to the late Daniel and Lois Stringfield. Arlene graduated from L.P. Jackson High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to the late Pernell Langhorne, Sr. From this union there were 5 children. She was preceded in death by her grandson Troy Johnson, Jr. She retired from Gwaltney Meat Packing Plant as a Storeroom Clerk after 39 years of service. At an early age, Arlene joined Oak Grove Baptist Church then later joined Solomon's Temple where she faithfully attended and served the Lord until her death. She was a proud member of Solomon's Temple and enjoyed serving diligently on the Hospitality Committee. She not only had a passion for cooking for her family, but it was extended to her church family as well as the community. Everyone knew no one could cook like her. She leaves to cherish her loving memories to her 4 daughters, Brenda Stone, Cynthia Lankford, Sheila Holmes (Paul), Stephanie Swan (Louis), and 1 son Pernell Langhorne, Jr. (Scherrell); 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 godchild Angela Anderson; 2 sisters Johnnie Mae Stringfield and Shirley Hardy; 7 brother-n-laws, 5 sister-n-laws, 5 aunts and 4 truly devoted friends, Vernell Brown, Shirley Haskins, Amy Wilson, LaVerne Tynes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Celebration of Life service will be 12:00pm on Thursday October 22, 2015 at Solomon's Temple Church located in Shivers Funeral Chapel Smithfield, Virginia. Viewing will be held Wednesday October 21, 2015 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the Chapel.

Burial Date October 22, 2015

Celebration of Life service will be 12:00pm on Thursday October 22, 2015 at Solomon's Temple Church located in Shivers Funeral Chapel Smithfield, Virginia. Viewing will be held Wednesday October 21, 2015 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the Chapel.
