Arkansas Batten

Arkansas Batten "Arlie", age 90, departed this life February 18, 2017. She was born to the late Walter Batten and Nannie Randall Batten on May 12, 1926 in Isle of Wight county, Va. She attended Isle of Wight County public schools. She was baptized in the holiness faith at an early age. She always showed a great love for people and sharing in the gospel of the Lord. She was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. Arkansas Batten was an avid fisher that would go fishing several days a week. There was so much competition among other family members to see who would catch the most fish. She worked at ITT Gwaltney for a period of five Years in the meat processing department. She was also a child care provider for many children in the community. She was preceded in death by seven siblings; Olivia Randall Batten, Russell Batten, Emmitt Batten, Virgie Scott, Burles Batten, Thomas Batten, and Pernell Batten. She is survived by a loving niece, Nannie S. Blowe, and numerous other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held On Thursday February 23, 2017 12PM at Christian Home Baptist Church, Windsor, Va. Viewing will be held on Wednesday February 22, 2016 from 4-7PM at the Chapel. Professional services entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel.
