A Virtuous woman has gone to heaven, Mrs. Ada B. Jones transitioned from this life on Friday, March 12, 2021. Ada loved the Lord. She served Him all of her life. She was a long time member of Rising Star Baptist Church and later became a member of Holy Ghost Baptist Church. Ada was educated in Isle of Wight County and received her GED in 1997. She continue her education and earned credentials as a Certified Nurse Aide. Ada used her education to provide care for patients as she worked at Elwyn Institute in Pennsylvania; Eastern State Hospital, in Williamsburg Virginia; and Riverside Rehabilitation Center, in Smithfield, Virginia. Ada's kind heart and gentle nature provided a source of care and healing for many. Ada loved all people and touched many lives. She had an unwavering devotion to family and friends. We will miss her love, her kindness, her sweet kisses, her big hugs, her laughter, her smiles, her joy and energy, but her spirit lives on. Ada was born in Isle of Wight County on October 19, 1944, to parents Willard G. Hunt, and Olivia Langhorne Hunt, who precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband William P. Jones; Willard M. Hunt, Armistice L. Hunt, and Bobbie C. Hunt (brothers); Teolar O. Pace (sister); Vena Hunt and Jeanette Hunt (sisters-in-law); Wardell R. Williams (son) and Willette P. Jones (daughter). Ada leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Carol J. Brown (Terrance) of Richmond, VA; Willard G. Williams of Carrollton, VA; Ernest L. Williams, Jr. of Chester, PA; Stacey V. Williams (Susan) of Salisbury, MD; Sharon Walker of Suffolk, VA; Sherman Hill III of Hampton, VA; Felecia Scott (Michael) of Smithfield, VA; Frendessa Copeland, and Lenora Walker of Carrollton, VA; Vera Moody (James) of New Kent, VA; Sarah Dowdell (Theodore) of Newport News, VA; and Tiffany Freeman (Ronald) of Shelby, NC. Ada also leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Mary A. Grandison (Joseph) of Portsmouth, VA; Odessa J. Dukes; Bertha M. Edwards; Mable E. Hunt; Beverly D. Hunt; Shirley Gray; and Jackie R. Hunt; Sister-in-law Jackie Jones; Sister-in-law Katherlee Smith; Sister-in-law Mary Jones; all residents of Smithfield, VA; Sister-in-law, Cynthia Y. Hunt of Charlottesville, VA; and Sister-in-law, Jean Hunt of Jamaica Queens, NY. Ada also leaves to cherish her memory a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who she loved much more than words and convey. Also left to cherish her memory is Ernest L. Williams, Ada's first husband who she remained friends with through the years. A Drive-in Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. March 20, 2021, at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Friday, March 19, 2021, from 4-6 pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Jones is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel, 12749 Courthouse Highway, Smithfield, VA 23430. Interment will be at Macedonia AME Church in Carrollton, VA. A Drive-in Celebration of Life will be held 11am Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place Friday, March 19, 2021 from 4-6pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Jones is in the loving and professional care of Shivers Funeral Chapel. Please keep the Jones and Hunt family in your thoughts and prayers.
